Abbott, O'Rourke Win in 2022 Texas Primaries

Summary from the AllSides News Team

Tuesday was primary day in Texas, as Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and Congressman Beto O'Rourke (D) defeated their primary opponents. Abbott and O'Rourke will face each other on November 8th in the race for governor of Texas.

Meanwhile, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush (R), grandson of former President George H.W. Bush, will face Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton in a May 24 runoff election after neither candidate captured 50% of the vote. In addition, Austin city councilman and progressive Greg Casar beat out Democratic state Rep. Eddie Rodriguez.

Most right-rated and left-rated media sources agree that the 2022 midterm elections, such as the ones in Texas, will serve as a referendum on the first half of Joe Biden's presidency.
