“White Dudes For Harris” Fundraiser Raises $3.7 Million

An online campaign fundraiser Monday called "White Dudes For Harris" garnered over 150,000 attendees and raised more than $3.7 million.

The Details: The virtual event featured prominent Hollywood actors like Jeff Bridges and Mark Ruffalo, and several Democratic officials. The event was designed to reflect a previous fundraiser called “White Women: Answer the Call,” which drew in more than 160,000 women.   

Key Quote: “I’m white, I’m a dude, and I’m here for Harris,” Bridges said.

How the Media Covered It: Outlets on the left and in the center focused more on what speakers at the fundraiser said. CNBC (Center bias) highlighted Harris's race and noted that Trump and Vance "are both white." Outlets on the right, like the Daily Caller (Right bias), showed bias in word choice, as they termed fundraiser attendees as “Hollywood liberals” and “political elites.” Others on the right followed negative chains of conversations on social media surrounding the fundraiser, highlighting comments that were critical of the group name “White Dudes For Harris.” These posts tended to insist that people would be offended if “White Dudes For Trump” existed.
