Shots fired at Portland International Airport TSA checkpoint, suspect in custody
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Shots were fired Tuesday night inside Portland International Airport at a TSA checkpoint, officials said.
According to the Port of Portland, shots were fired near the D and E gates TSA checkpoint prompting an immediate response by police.
One person was taken into custody and authorities said there is no ongoing threat to anyone’s safety.

TSA: Record number of guns caught at checkpoints in 2022
The Transportation Security Administration announced Tuesday that travel returned to pre-pandemic levels, with around 2 million passengers screened a day, but 2022 also set a new record for firearm interceptions.

TSA on track to confiscate record number of firearms
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers have stopped over 3,000 firearms from passing through security checkpoints within the first six months of 2022.
