Police identify 59-year-old Newport News man killed in Friday night shooting
Officers responded to the 1100 block of 25th Street in the Chestnut neighborhood after their gunshot detection technology, ShotSpotter, picked up gunfire around 8:31 p.m. They found John Vorice Claud, of Newport News, outside suffering from a gunshot wound.
Claud died at the scene, according to police. No further information was made available.
The investigation is ongoing.
