Elder Patrick Kearon called to church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Patrick Kearon was called to be the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Friday. A church news release said he was called on Thursday and ordained by President Russell M. Nelson, president of the church. Elder Kearon has served most recently as the senior president of the Presidency of the Seventy.

Fire tears through Chevy Chase church
D.C. and Montgomery County firefighters are fighting the blaze at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Western Avenue in Chevy Chase, which started before 1:30 p.m.
