Marine biologist Dimitri Deheyn walks over to an isolated aquarium in a room at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. All around him, pumps churn in blue vats, rubber boots squeak against concrete floors, and the sweet smell of intertidal algae fills the air. Deheyn swings open the hinges to the experimental aquarium and examines rows and rows of anemones.
