Years ago on a winter vacation in Hawaii I took a break from fun in the sun to visit the Pearl Harbor National Memorial; from a brief blurb on the exhibit’s webpage, we find this: The memorial commemorates the unprovoked deadly attack on a U.S. base by Japan’s imperial forces on December 7, 1941, “a date which will live in infamy,” proclaimed then-president Franklin D.
