Tropical Storm Debby will batter Florida at hurricane strength as it continues to grow in power
Tropical Storm Debby was rapidly intensifying Sunday as the fourth-named storm of the season churns toward Florida’s Gulf Coast, where it’s expected to strengthen to a hurricane before making landfall. Debby, which is on track to slam into the Big Bend region of Florida on Monday, was about 195 miles southwest of Tampa early Sunday and was quickly moving northwest at 13 mph with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, the National Hurricane Center said.
