MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) - Earth broke two records this week, as the highest temperatures on record for the planet were broken on July 21 and July 22. On July 21, the daily global high temperature was 17.09 degrees Celsius. On July 22, the global high temperature was 17.15 degrees Celsius. The temperature observations date back to 1940 and are recorded through an ERA5 analysis, which is a model that takes all available weather observations and fills in the gaps to give weather information everywhere.
