Melvindale police officer killed in the line of duty, suspect still on the run

MELVINDALE, Mich. (WJRT) - An officer with the Melvindale Police Department was shot and killed on Sunday. According to WXYZ-TV, the shooting happaned near the 17000 block of Clarann Street in Melvindale at a car wash. The suspect, 44-year-old Michael Lopez took off running. There was a struggle, before Lopez shot and killed the officer. Multiple police agencies, including the Melvindale Police Department and the Michigan State Police are actively looking for Lopez.
