Blue Earth County Fair goes on despite flood damage

MANKATO — Let the show go on, as they say. This show is the Blue Earth County Fair, which runs July 25-28 and will go on as planned despite fairly extensive flood damage sustained to the fairgrounds last month. The fair is in Garden City and is nestled on three sides by the Watonwan River. Robin Tietz, Fair Board president, said last month’s flood was due to the rising river water. “I’m not going to say the rain didn’t contribute, but the river water came up and over the banks,”...
