Newport News 7-Eleven clerk faces gun charges after accidentally shooting himself during fight

The clerk at a Newport News 7-Eleven who accidentally shot himself during an altercation outside his store on June 12 has now been hit with three gun charges. Liam Paul Vaughn, 28, of Newport News, was charged Friday with shooting a firearm in a public place, resulting in injury, according to Newport News police spokesman Matt Michalec. That’s a Class 6 felony, punishable by up to five years behind bars. Vaughn was also charged with reckless handling of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, Michalec said....
