Apache Fire explodes to over 600 acres in Butte County, evacuations ordered

Some Butte County residents were forced to evacuate Monday evening when a fast-moving wildfire broke out in Oroville, Cal Fire said .

The blaze, dubbed the “Apache Fire,” sparked near Apache Hill Road in Oroville around 7:21 p.m., firefighters said. By 9:30 p.m., the blaze had torched 466 acres and was still uncontained, according to Cal Fire. Evacuation orders were in effect in the small community of Palermo, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office said.
