Small commuter train fire forces riders to switch in Tukwila

Passengers on a Sounder commuter train had to walk off next to Tukwila Station around 5:30 p.m. Monday when a small amount of smoke and fire appeared in the undercarriage. There were no injuries, and the 135 riders caught the next southbound train to Kent, Tacoma and Lakewood, according to David Jackson, a spokesperson for Sound Transit. Officials suspect that debris in the trackway got caught under the train and burned, but the cause remains under investigation, Jackson said.
