Family left homeless in Lehigh County 2-alarm blaze, fire official says

A two-alarm blaze Saturday evening ravaged a residence and left a family of two homeless in Salisbury Township, a fire official said. Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Co. Assistant Chief William R. Sames told lehighvalleylive.com flames around 5 p.m. ignited on a home in the 1000 block of Hawthorn Road. Responding crews found heavy fire and smoke engulfing the back of the two-story home, he said. There were no reported injuries. A woman and her older son were able to escape safely, Sames said.
