Portland State in midst of expensive, ‘marathon’ race to repair damaged library before fall classes begin

Gleaming, new window panes have taken the place of broken glass. Stair railings, once covered in graffiti, shine bright white. This is Portland State University’s Millar library seven weeks into repairs. In May, pro-Palestine protesters occupied the library for three nights, covering it with spray paint, signs, tents and food supplies, until police forced them out. Thirty-one protesters were arrested on charges ranging from criminal trespass to burglary.
