Bird flu spreading to dairy cattle, pets, wildlife and people - Berthoud Weekly Surveyor

Avian influenza (H5N1), also known as “bird flu,” is a highly infectious and potentially life-threatening form of influenza infecting wild birds worldwide. It has been found in poultry flocks and dairy cows in every state except Louisiana and Hawaii. The first confirmed case of avian flu in dairy cows in Colorado was found in Northeastern Colorado in April. An infected flock of poultry was confirmed in Weld County in October 2023.
