Health department monitoring mid-Michigan public beaches

As summer approaches, the health department that serves several mid-Michigan counties is sampling water at public beaches in six counties including Isabella and Clare, and posting advisories when E. coli is detected. While there are no current advisories at any of the beaches in either county, the Central Michigan District Health Department’s monitoring program involves weekly water tests with results being posted on a state website and at beaches where there are elevated levels of E. coli and the presence of algal blooms, according to Steve King, CMDHD environmental health...
