Ellington voters narrowly approve $71.2 million budget, which includes 5% tax increase

The referendum approved a 2024-25 budget of $71,260,755 by a margin of 675 to 635. Registrar of Voters Wanda DeLand said 11.7 percent of eligible voters went to the polls at the Senior Center, in comparison with the 14 percent who turned out for the first referendum May 28, which failed 1,060 to 430. The adopted budget has increases of $2,906,056 in expenditures, or 4.25 percent, in comparison with the previous cycle.
