A $195 million bond to retrofit Pasadena’s Central Library just got a step closer to reality

Pasadena is moving one step closer to approving a funding plan for the seismic retrofit of the city’s century-old Central Library. On Monday, June 10, the panel voted 6-2 to direct staff to prepare documents for a nearly $200 million bond measure for the November ballot. This followed staff’s presentation of two design options: a $153 million plan to reopen the library and a more comprehensive $195 million approach that includes technological upgrade, building system replacement and other improvements.
