FEMA extends hotel shelters through end of June

HONOLULU (KHON2) — State emergency officials negotiated an extension with FEMA for hotel room stays for Lahaina wildfire survivors. June 10 was supposed to be the end of the hotel sheltering program, but state officials said residents need more time to transition into more permanent housing. Nearly 600 people or 230 households remain living in hotel rooms 10 months into the wildfire disaster response.
