40 wineries file $102M lawsuit against PacifiCorp for ‘negligence’ in 2020 wildfires

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A group of 40 wineries filed a lawsuit against Pacific Power and its parent company PacifiCorp alleging the company was negligent for deciding to not shut off power during the 2020 wildfires, which damaged their grapes, according to court documents. The complaint, filed May 24, is the latest lawsuit against the utility companies, and seeks more than $102 million in damages from the Santiam, Echo Mountain, Archie Creek Complex, 242, and South Obenchain Fires in 2020.
