Dolphin stranded in N.J. creek dies during rescue attempt

The bottlenose dolphin that ended up in a back-bay stream earlier this week died Friday after rescuers tried to quickly release it back into open water, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center said in a Facebook post. “Our entire team is deeply saddened about this outcome,” the center wrote in the post announcing the attempted rescue and subsequent death Friday.
