The Quincy Valley Historical Society Museum in Quincy, Washington includes three buildings: the Reinman-Simmons House, Pioneer Church, and Heritage Barn. Shown below are the Museum’s outdoor exhibits and gardens. According to the sign: “Water was needed for drinking, cooking, bathing, laundry, watering livestock, and irrigating fruit trees and gardens. A windmill drew water from a drilled, groundwater will. It could not produce much water per stroke, but it could run all day. Water was pumped into an underground cement tank, called a cistern, or into a storage tank located uphill...
