AHSAA heptathlon, decathlon: St. Paul’s, James Clemens stars lead

Defending state heptathlon champion Janie Ford of St. Paul’s finished Day 1 with a big lead in the AHSAA State Decathlon and Heptathlon Competition that got underway at Hoover High School on Wednesday. Ford rolled up 3,188 points Wednesday and set an AHSAA heptathlon record in the 200-meter dash winning the event in 24.69 seconds. She also won the 100-meter hurdles (14.41) and the high jump (5-06.5) and the shot put with a throw of 31-10. The long jump, javelin and 800-meter run are remaining Thursday.
