Two men indicted in $55 million Medicare fraud scheme at labs in and beyond New Orleans

A federal grand jury handed down a superseding indictment last week charging two men who authorities say operated laboratories that did unnecessary testing in and beyond New Orleans, defrauding Medicare out of $55 million, according to court records. Jamie McNamara, 48, and John Spivey, 53, are accused of billing the federal government $174 million between 2018 and 2020, requesting reimbursements for cancer and cardio genetics testing they contracted external labs to perform.
