Voter turnout tops 27% statewide in Nebraska primary, falls short of projections

A little more than 27% of the state's 1.2 million registered voters took part in the primary election this year, which is down from the record-breaking 40.5% turnout recorded four years ago. Evnen said predicting turnout has grown more difficult "given the unprecedented voting patterns" during the COVID-19 pandemic and after, in which more voters took advantage of early voting. But the 2024 turnout, which saw a total of 333,299 Nebraskans cast a ballot this spring, tracks closer to primary election participation in 2012 and 2016, where turnout was recorded...
