The scale of the problem is impossible to overstate. With over 96 percent of the state’s rental units occupied, Providence is facing an unprecedented housing shortage. As a result, rental prices are surging. The cost of rent is exacerbating the homelessness crisis and preventing our neighbors from having housing security. Providence is increasingly listed among the best quality-of-life cities in the nation, but we don’t have enough housing for the people who want to live here , or for our neighbors who are looking for a new space to call...
