Young volunteers get to work at Northwest Side nature preserve ahead of Earth Day

CHICAGO — At a nature preserve in Jefferson Park on Saturday, a group of young volunteers got to work beautifying, mulching trails and planting native species, while pulling the invasive ones. It’s part of the Honeycomb Project, a nonprofit that organizes volunteering events designed for families, teaching kids about the power and rewards of service.
