Louisville police union, mayor face criticism over proposed contract, lack of transparency

After lengthy private negotiations, Louisville Metro Government and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the union representing police officers, have signed contracts that boost officer pay and throw out discipline for officers if misconduct investigations take too long. The contracts head to Metro Council for approval, but the secretive negotiations and limited time for the public to digest and react to the contracts, have stoked criticism. “We’ve been asking for accountability with our local police department.
