TOMS RIVER, NJ – Petitioners against an ordinance that removed four positions from the Toms River Police Department have successfully solicited enough signatures to force a council action on the ordinance. Shortly after the Toms River Township Council and Mayor Daniel Rodrick cut four police department positions, including two captains, a patrol officer, and a public information officer, residents began collecting signatures for a petition to either force the council to rescind the ordinance or to force a special election to allow the people of Toms River to vote on...
