Report: Paxton could take deal to avoid securities fraud trial

AUSTIN (Nexstar) — Prosecutors are expected to dismiss Attorney General Ken Paxton’s felony securities fraud charges on Tuesday, the Austin American-Statesman reported Friday. According to the report, the deal could require Paxton to complete community service, legal education, and pay a six-figure fine to avoid a risky public trial that would carry the penalty of prison with a conviction. Paxton’s prosecutor Brian Wice declined to comment on this report to Nexstar.
