Regulators green-light startup at solar facility

So says the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission. Commissioners on Wednesday granted the company’s request to start earlier than anticipated. The commission also accepted a surety bond from a third-party insurer in the amount of $4,142,602 for eventually decommissioning the project. The bond serves as an assurance that the facility will be removed when it’s no longer in operation a half-mile south of New Underwood in Pennington County. Wild Springs will become South Dakota’s first PUC-permitted solar facility to produce electricity. Basin Electric Power Cooperative will purchase the power. Mollie...
