Severe Storm in California and Nevada Causes Interstate Closures and Snow Drifts

Some areas are expecting up to 10 feet (3 meters) of snow. The National Weather Service in Reno, Nevada, predicts that the heaviest snow will arrive after midnight, with blizzard and windy conditions continuing into Saturday, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less. A “high to extreme avalanche danger” is expected through Sunday overnight across the central Sierra, including the Lake Tahoe metropolitan area.
