SoS: About 78K people in Michigan voted early in person

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — More than 1 million people cast ballots early or absentee ahead of Michigan’s presidential primary on Tuesday, the secretary of state says. “That’s significant because it’s a 13% higher pre-election day turnout than we saw in 2020,” Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said during a Monday morning news conference. “And it really is a reflection of voter enthusiasm and also of Michigan’s expanded voting options.” In addition to absentee voting, this is Michigan’s first election in which there was statewide early voting.
