A Lake County resident has been diagnosed with Indiana's first case of measles in five years. Measles is so highly contagious, spreading through droplets from sneezes or coughs that can linger in the air for two hours, that a single case is considered an outbreak. The respiratory disease is caused by a virus extremely rare in the United States because it's widely vaccinated against.
