Exports of SC-made goods topped $37.3B in '23 as growth surpassed national average

South Carolina's automotive sector, primarily BMWs built at the German automaker's Upstate plant, helped boost the state's export total to $37.3 billion worth of goods in 2023, far outpacing the national average. Last year's total represents an 18.4 percent jump from 2022, according to figures released by Gov. Henry McMaster's office. Nationally, exports of goods were down by 2.2 percent in 2023.
