Pritzker Lays Out Plan to Tackle Projected Budget Shortfall in State of the State Address

An expected Illinois budget shortfall will be evened out through a combination of improved fiscal projections, a relatively tighter hold on spending increases, new programs with about 2% more spending than this year and revenue hikes that include a higher tax on sports wagers, per a plan laid out Wednesday by Gov. J.B. Pritzker. Pritzker is also aiming to satisfy credit ratings agencies that have long dinged Illinois for working to fund its beleaguered pension systems at only 90%.
