Federal trial over DAPL costs starts

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A federal trial began on Thursday over whether the U.S. government should pay North Dakota back for the $38 million it paid during the Dakota Access Pipeline protests. Nearly 10 million pounds of garbage from Dakota Access Pipeline protest camps was discarded in 2017. The State of North Dakota had to foot the bill, and now state officials are looking to give that bill back to the federal government.
