George Washington painting from early 1800s stolen in Colorado

A painting of America’s first president was stolen from an Englewood, Colorado, storage unit last month, the city’s police department announced on Facebook Tuesday. The George Washington depiction dates to the early 19th century. It’s 24 by 30 inches with a gold frame. Police said they couldn’t determine the monetary value of the “national treasure.” The painting had been in the family of its owner for over 50 years, police spokeswoman Crystal Essman told USA Today.
