‘Line Their Own Pockets’: 70 Employees Indicted In Historic New York City Public Housing Corruption Case

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Tuesday that it had indicted 70 current and previous New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) employees on corruption-related charges. The 70 federal bribery indictments were the most ever brought in one day in the history of the DOJ, with the department arresting 66 of the defendants Tuesday morning across four states, according to a press release. They are accused of accepting money from contractors in return for doling out lucrative no-bid contracts.
