Health department reports first 2024 measles case in Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported the first measles case of 2024 in Ohio Saturday. Dayton & Montgomery Public Health says the case was discovered at Dayton Children’s Hospital last week. The ODH does not know of any additional cases of the measles, according to a press release. Ohio had one measles case in 2023 and 90 in 2022, according to the ODH. Measles is extremely contagious and can spread to others through coughing and sneezing.
