Historic earthquake shakes West Texas Wednesday morning

A powerful earthquake shook West Texas early Wednesday morning, marking one of the strongest quakes ever recorded in Texas. The 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck at around 3:27 a.m. MST, according to a Wednesday dispatch from Fox Weather. The center of the quake was located in between Midland and El Paso, a rural area located around 58 miles south-southeast of Carlsbad, New Mexico and occurred about 5 miles below the earth's surface, per the U.S. Geological Survey.
