The Republican’s order Wednesday will suspend the gas tax until Nov. 29, when legislators are set to meet for a special session to comply with a court order to redraw the state’s political boundaries and approve the gas tax break. Kemp has suspended the gas tax — currently 31.2 cents a gallon for gas and 35 cents per gallon for diesel fuel — for much of the last two years to lower the price to Georgians when fuel prices skyrocketed.
