Rain forecast to follow Anchorage’s first official snow of the season

Anchorage’s first official snowfall of the season tapered off early Thursday and isn’t likely to last long, with the forecast calling for rising temperatures and rain to end the week. The snow began falling Wednesday evening, dropping 1.2 inches near Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport by Thursday morning, said Michael Kutz of the National Weather Service. Slick roads overnight led to at least one report of a rollover on the Parks Highway in Mat-Su that caused minor injuries, according to the Houston Fire Department. Oct. 16 is the average day...
