Johnson County educator wins Teacher of Year honor

A Johnson County English teacher is Indiana’s 2024 Teacher of the Year, the state Department of Education announced Monday. The other two finalists included Valparaiso High English teacher Matt Thomas and Brandon Denning, a mathematics teacher at Indianapolis Public Schools’ Center for Inquiry 84. Now in his 13th year of teaching, Jenkins began his career at the American Christian Academy in Ibadan, Nigeria in 2007, and moved back to the U.S. in 2008 to teach in Trussville, Alabama.
