New storm spinning across Atlantic after Ophelia makes landfall

A new tropical depression, the 17th of the season, has formed in the central Atlantic Ocean, the National Hurricane Center reports. The system is moving westward at 15 mph with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. Movement is expected to slow over the next few days and its path is predicted to eventually move to the northwest, according to forecasters.
