As lawmakers tie casinos to Medicaid, questions remain for Lumbee and southeastern NC

PEMBROKE — Newly proposed legislation ties four casinos, including one that would be operated by the Lumbee tribe, to Medicaid expansion as North Carolina lawmakers try to reach a budget deal. The state House plans to vote Wednesday or Thursday on the budget and a separate “Gaming and Medicaid Modifications bill,” The News & Observer reported.
