It’s no shock that Donald Trump is skipping the second Republican debate next week. The former president is the presumptive nominee for the 2024 Republican nomination. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is the only candidate who could theoretically usurp Trump, but there’s been no seismic shift in the polls to suggest that will happen.
