Rolland Alexander II, a volunteer at PIH Health Whittier Hospital for 19 years, would head to the hospital every Tuesday to drive a tram. The other tram drivers called him the “Wagon Master” as a term of endearment, a hospital spokeswoman said. But the 84-year-old didn’t show up on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
